| The Summer School
of the European Science Days takes place annually in July and is attended
by graduate and postgraduate students who have successfully applied.
The Summer School is limited to 50 participants. The
Scientific Organizer, assisted by the ESD Board and the Secretary
General decides upon the admission. Criteria for a successful application
are a convincing letter of motivation, an informative CV, a letter
or recommendation from the thesis supervisor or an equivalent mentor
from the home university and a list of publications. Since 2000,
when the Summer School was first held, 500 upcoming scientists from
all over the world have participated and profited from the ESD network.
Apart from the lectures and seminars held by leading
scientists in the field of economics, students are encouraged to
present their own research in the poster sessions which are an important
part of the schedule. Certificates are awarded to all participants
who have regularly attended the lectures and seminars throughout
the week.
Apart from the ambitious academic program, the social program allows
ample opportunity for discussions with members of the faculty and
fellow students.
